Set Your Vitamin D Up!  Here’s How

Did you know that 42% of Americans are vitamin D deficient? That statistic is high AF, but we’re here to help with solutions. The obvious first step is getting more sunlight, and we make it easy for you. Visit our deck this summer and enjoy the sunshine with friends or family. Have a date? Meet them for a smoothie at The Beet Box and soak up that necessary vitamin D! Have a creative meeting? Our deck is perfect for letting those creative juices flow while getting your dose of vitamin D.

Food is also an excellent way to boost your vitamin D levels. Try adding salmon, mackerel, tuna, and sardines to your meals, as they are rich in vitamin D. For our vegan friends, mushrooms can also provide the nutrients you need.

If you need an extra boost and can’t get enough vitamin D through sunlight or diet, consider supplements like Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol), with D3 being more effective at raising blood levels of vitamin D.

Some things to note are people with that extra melanin, can notice a reduction in the skin’s ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight so all our melanated people, be sure to get an increase in sun exposure or add dietary supplements to meet your vitamin D needs. Also, our older fam, you may have a reduced ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight and might need higher amounts through diet and supplements.
