Passion for Vegan Living and Fresh Smoothies: Our Origin Story

Opening a juice bar in the pandemic sounded like a wild idea originally. I spent those first few months of the pandemic processing wtf was even happening. By May 2020, I had to do something. Not just to keep myself occupied, but to help the rest of the world when people were telling us to drink bleach. Bleach never sounded like a good idea to me; green juice did, though. We are what we eat, right? If we commit to fueling our bodies with food that heals, we are less likely to be scrambling when everyone’s immunity is under global attack. And so it began, we ended up conceptualizing The Beet Box in May of that year and were ready to open the doors by October 2020.
From recipe creation to making sure the city was happy with the size of our signage, things lined up fairly quickly. I recently came across the first label I designed for our juice bottles. Wow. Evolution is beautiful, cuz what in the clip art did I have access to? I spent endless hours making sure that every part of the brand was a reflection of me. Why wouldn’t an all-green juice be called Straight Cash?! We all need that. I had no doubt that the community here in Richmond would love the flavors we were bringing.
Heading into our fourth year of business and this pandemic juice bar venture doesn’t feel as risky as it once did. We are grateful our community receives us the way they do and shares our passion for vegan living and bomb ass smoothies.
